The November meeting of the 2021/22 CraobhEo woodturning year was held on Thurs November 11th, 2021 in the CraobhEo Centre in Aghamore.

This was our A.G.M and covered two years.

Our chairman, Tom Jordan chaired the meeting and said it was great to see so many back after the Covid break. He encouraged all to participate in the monthly competitions.

Secretary Pat O’Malley reported that once we got the go ahead to return, the CraobhEo committee met and put in place safe Covid procedures for a return to our monthly meetings in October 2021. This worked well. The 2020 CraobhEo Seminar was held in the Gateway Hotel, Swinford in Feb 2020. Prof Seamus Caulfield, Ceide Fields opened the seminar and we welcomed Paul Hanniby, Chairman AWGB and Eugene Grimley, Ulster Chairman as our demonstrators. Pat Walsh (Dublin), Graham Griffiths (Shannonside) and Colm Brennan (Sligo) took the prizes.

The CraobhEo Seminar, 2022 is scheduled for Sat 26th Feb 2022 in the Gateway Hotel, Swinford. Demonstrators are John Flynn (South East Chapter) and Joe Laird (Cuig Deag Chapter).

We had a number of outside demonstrators  for our monthly meetings including Frank Fitzpatrick (Shannonside), Ambrose O’Halloran (Galway) and Danny McGeever (Sligo). Our membership as at January 2020 stood at 41.

Treasurer Martin Wilson presented his report and explained that Covid had made an impact on our financial resources. Pro and Membership Secretary Willie Creighton went into detail on the chapter fundraising support for local charities for this coming year. He also spoke on behalf of the building committee and the great work being done by members to ensure the Old School House was ready for our return. Michael Maye gave an update on installation of a temporary additional camera for our monthly demonstrations.

Discussions took place on competition rules, website and its usage, chapter get together and chapter funding.

The November competition was for a three legged stool.

There was a great display of entries for the competition. Well done to all for participating.

Willie Creighton kindly agreed to due a critique and evaluated each entry in turn with feedback to each member. Thank you Willie.
